As the owner of the Carlo’s Bakery chain and star of the TLC show
, Buddy Valastro is around baked goods constantly. So fans noticed quickly when the celebrity baker lost an impressive amount of weight. This week, Valastro revealed there’s a specific diet program that helped him slim down.
Valastro explained his weight loss in an Instagram photo posted Tuesday; he posed with his
, and wrote about his transformation in the photo’s caption. “A lot of people have been asking me how I’ve slimmed down lately so I just wanted to share that I’ve used the Optavia program,” he wrote. “I’m not being paid to say this, and it should be noted that I think everybody is different and you should do whatever suits you, but this is what I’m doing and I’m very happy with the results so far!”
He also posted a photo Wednesday looking noticeably slimmer while holding his dog, Bella:
The Optavia program, which is owned by the company Medifast, offers coaches and community members who guide dieters to make healthier choices. Meal plans usually contain six small meals per day, including the company’s prepackaged “Fuelings” meals.
But that said, everyone deserves a cheat day every once in a while. “Sometimes you need a little veal parm!” Valastro wrote on Instagram Wednesday. Since Valastro owns the Buddy V’s chain of Italian restaurants, that veal parm is just part of the job, after all.
Valastro is only the latest celebrity baker to shed weight. Duff Goldman, star of
Ace of Cakes
revealed he was on his own weight loss path
last year. He credited his transformation to “old-school strategies” like “eating clean, riding my bike, and lifting weights.”
